HYDERABAD: Prajarajyam party president K Chiranjeevi said on Saturday that his party would request for the change in their symbol in the next
elections as he claims that it was one of the reasons that the party had done very badly.
Addressing a press conference here at the party office after the three-day meeting of the political affairs committee, Chiranjeevi said one reason for the loss was that that the PRP could not train its cadre well in time for the elections. He said that the people could not vote to the PRP as the Rail engine symbol, which was allotted to Prajarajyam was very tiny and was not visible to the voters. Chiranjeevi said "now that the PRP is eligible to be a registered party, the party will request for a better symbol in the next election."
He said that though the party lost badly in the elections, it is satisfying to see that the party could get 17 percent of the total votes. He said that within eight months of its formation, the party received a huge support from the electorate though it could not be converted into seats.
Chiranjeevi said tickets were allotted to all sections of the people but that the symbol was not popularised among the electorate. Selection of candidates and other factors also contributed to the loss but the party will not be discouraged and will march ahead and go to the people with lot more dedication. Even though the party did not fare very well in the recent general elections, it will continue with its social justice agenda, he said.
