Movie Gassips: Vadina's Full Control On 'Maridhi'

It is always said that the daughter in law of the house is the most crucial person to manage things at home but in the case of the muscular stud Vishal, it looks like this is happening in the business front too. We are talking about the GK film corporation that is run by Vikram Krishna, Vishal’s brother.

Sources say that Vikram’s wife and noted face Shreya Reddy is said to be a key decision maker in the production house and she is the Executive producer for the venture ‘Pista’. So, some of the most important decisions regarding Vishal’s films and their execution are planned and decided by Shreya.

These days young girls have often been quite dynamic and entrepreneurial and perhaps that is one reason why the GK banner also is able to churn out some high budget movies with confidence. With Shreya seemingly holding the ruling stick, it remains to be seen how much impact she creates at the box office with her planning.

cricket News: ICC clears Saeed Ajmal's bowling action

Dubai: Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal, who was reported for suspect bowling action during the recent ODI series against Australia, was on Sunday cleared by the International Cricket Council.

A comprehensive analysis by human movement specialist Bruce Elliott confirmed that the amount of elbow extension in Ajmal's action for all deliveries was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted in the ICC regulations, the game's highest governing body said in a statement.

"Ajmal can continue to bowl in international cricket on the basis he uses an action consistent to that used in the latest independent analysis of his action.

"However, it is important to emphasise that no bowler is ever cleared as it is impossible to predict how a player might deliver the ball in the future," ICC general manager (Cricket) David Richardson said.

A copy of Elliott's report on the 31-year-old right-arm spinner has been forwarded to the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Ajmal was reported by umpires Asad Rauf and Billy Bowden as well as third umpire Zameer Haider and fourth umpire Nadeem Ghouri at the conclusion of Pakistan's second ODI in Dubai on April 24.

Cricket News: Sachin worried about 'fatigued' Viru, Gauti

New Delhi: India has the wherewithal to defend the Twenty20 World Cup in England but openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir will have to overcome the fatigue factor if the team is to achieve the goal, reckons Sachin Tendulkar.

Tendulkar was impressed with the way the Indian youngsters performed in the ongoing Twenty20 tournament in South Africa but the Mumbai Indian captain also pointed out that both Sehwag and Gambhir have not been consistent enough.

"I think, individually the boys are doing well. Look at Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS (Dhoni). In the bowling department Zaheer was doing well before he got injured and RP Singh has come up by leaps and bounds. Only our opening combination of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag haven't fired," Tendulkar said.

"I think the key would be how soon they can shed off the fatigue factor. They have been playing back to back for a long time now and it would difficult to keep up the tempo," Tendulkar told ESPN’s website.

Incidentally, India coach Gary Kirsten had earlier expressed a similar concern.

Tendulkar, however, was of the view that IPL has been an ideal preparation for the Twenty20 World Cup.

"...It is. You are playing the same format and you are playing against the best bowlers and also not in home conditions. So, I think this is a good preparation except that the players should take adequate rest between the IPL and the ICC World Twenty20," he said.

The Mumbaikar also reiterated his stance that even though he enjoyed playing Twenty20, he never thought about representing India in this slam-bang format lest it disturbs the team composition.

"I never thought that I would play the ICC World Twenty20. MS Dhoni and his Twenty20 team have done wonderfully well and I just hope they continue to do so. I have no plans to play T20 for India," Tendulkar said.

About his team's debacle in the ongoing IPL, he said, "We blew hot and cold. There were times when we could have done better than we did. I think it is a batsman's format and in our case it was the batsmen who let us down."

Asked for his reaction on Harbhajan Singh's comment that the spinner didn't know what his role was in the team, Tendulkar said "I won't like to comment on that, it is his personal opinion."

cricket news: Indians will handle pressure better at T20 WC post-IPL: Dhoni

Johannesburg: Youngsters gaining experience in handling pressure, emergence of match-winning part-timers and valuable practice are the positives Indians have taken from the IPL as they gear up to defend their Twenty20 World Championship crown next month, says skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

"Well, the good thing if you see in this tournament that will really help us in ICC World Twenty20 will be the emergence of part-timers who have done really well. Especially in the field restrictions, you have Yusuf Pathan bowling at that point, Harbhajan (Singh) has bowled and (Pragyan) Ojha also has bowled," Dhoni, who captained Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, said after the semifinal loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

"Most of the spinners are part-timers who are a part of the side, they have bowled in that particular time when you as a bowler are under pressure. Not much of spin, maybe the ball holds on a bit over here. But overall the experience will really count, this tournament in the 55-60 games that took place, most of them went really close.

"Most of the Indian batsmen who were part of that winning side or maybe the bowlers who were part of that winning moment, were under pressure. They will handle the pressure well when it comes to an international T20 game also. Loads of positives that will help the players who were part of the side," he elaborated.

Dhoni said he was impressed with the domestic talent that came into limelight during the Indian Premier League. "...we have seen new domestic players also coming up and performing at this level. Overall you can say, a good tournament for us, last year's IPL did help the Indian team to perform better when it comes to T20 and even one-day format. Hopefully this year's tournament will take us to the next level," he said. Chennai were the runners-up last year but crashed out in semis this season. Dhoni said the team was done in by injuries to some key bowlers, which made their attack fragile. The wicketkeeper-batsman was also not too happy with the fielding of his team.

"Well of course, it's a batsman's game, people say it's a batsman's game but bowlers are important because they definitely contribute in the team's win. Our bowling department was very fragile from the very start. Injuries never really help," he said.

"Sudeep Tyagi going out with an injury, Albie Morkel having injury, Manpreet Singh Gony also suffered injury. That was a problem you can say. But overall I am quite happy with the performance of the side. Definitely we need to field better. We are a better fielding side than whatever we have done in this tournament. Hopefully next year we will be a better fielding side," he added.

Cricket news: Glen McGrath's hometown to erect bowler's statue

Melbourne: Former Australia cricketer Glenn McGrath's hometown Narromine has decided to honour the pace bowler by erecting a bronze statue at a local park.

The Narromine Council has commissioned sculptor Brett Garling, who has a studio in the village of Wongarbon, near Dubbo, to create the statue which would be unveiled in Narromine's Tom Perry Park on June 6.

"The project is valued at more than USD 70,000 but (it) was able to get under way after I secured a commitment of USD
29,000. We also had a generous donation from the sculptor so no ratepayers' money will be spent," Narromine Mayor Dawn
Collins was quoted as saying in the Sydney Morning Herald.

McGrath, whose nickname is Pigeon, went to public and high schools in Narromine and played his early cricket there until he shifted to Sydney.

He retired from international cricket in April 2007 after being adjudged Man of the Tournament at the 2007 World Cup in
the West Indies and playing a key role in 5-0 Ashes drubbing of England.

IPL Final : Kumble keeps Deccan down to 143

Anil Kumble celebrated like a teenager but bowled like the veteran champion he is, and kept Deccan Chargers to a below-par total in the IPL final, at the Wanderers. Even after the 52-run partnership in the middle overs between Rohit Sharma and Herschelle Gibbs, Deccan managed three less than what Royal Challengers Bangalore chased easily on a similar pitch at the same venue in the semi-final.

After Kumble provided Adam Gilchrist's wicket in the first over, he pulled Deccan back every time they threatened to get away from them. Much like how he got his other bowlers to do the same last night. The man most thankful for Kumble's second breakthrough was Rahul Dravid, who had dropped Andrew Symonds when on 5. Symonds then went on to remind Bangalore eerily of the line his batting partner Gibbs was apocryphally told during the 1999 World Cup.

Had Dravid caught Symonds then, Deccan would have been 23 for 3 in the sixth over. R Vinay Kumar would have taken his second wicket in his second over, and to think he wouldn't even have played had B Akhil not got injured before the semi-final. In that same over Symonds crashed him over cover for four, and backed away and hit Jacques Kallis for back-to-back boundaries in the next over. Roelof van der Merwe was hit for a massive six next over. And Kumble had to turn to the man most likely to get a wicket on the night - himself.

Sure enough, in the ninth over, he bowled Symonds off the thigh pad. And off he went rushing towards Vinay at fine leg, and a relieved Dravid soon joined in the celebrations. If Kumble was animated now, just rewind to the first over. He chose to bowl it himself, to the man most likely to make this a one-sided final. To the third ball Gilchrist stepped out, and saw - didn't see rather - a full ball squeeze under his bat and take the leg stump out. Off went Kumble, pumping fists and pointing to the dugout. All age barriers were broken then. And Kumble was not done yet.

Between the dismissals of Glichrist and Symonds, Gibbs had stayed inconspicuous in his struggle to get quick runs. After 13 overs Gibbs had reached just 18 off 29 deliveries. Either side of Symonds' wicket, Bangalore stitched together a boundary-less spell of 26 balls. Then Rohit and Gibbs threatened to open up in the overs No. 14 and 15. Especially in the 15th, most expensive over of the innings with 20 runs coming off it, both the batsmen hit Praveen Kumar for a six each.

Suddenly Deccan had reached 109 for 3 after 16 overs, capable of anything in the last four. Kumble brought himself back, and inevitably he got Rohit with the second ball he bowled. For good measure he got Venugopal Rao with the last ball of his spell, ending with 4 for 16.

Towards the end Gibbs played a bizarre little innings. With two more sixes, he got to his fifty, and repaired his strike-rate, but faced only six balls in the last three overs. What was especially baffling was that he got 12 runs off those six balls, and yet kept taking twos to every ball in the last over, handing over the strike to Ryan Harris. Vinay for the second time in two nights bowled a superb last over, for just nine runs and a wicket this time. In those three overs Deccan added only 28.
