Kandhasamy Audio Launch Gallery

Susi Ganeshan’s Kandhasamy (Mallana in Telugu), starring Vikram and Shriya Saran audio launch was held Sunday at the Chennai Trade Center. Devi Sri Prasad is the music director.

A brief on the songs in the film Kanthaswamy…

The first song in the album is Excuse Me Mr Kanthasamy… sung by Suchitra and Vikram. It creates a romantic mood as the rich and arrogant heroine wants to impress the hero over a cup of coffee, and there is a lot of variation in the music.

The second song, sung by Rita, has been shot on Shriya and Italian dancers against the backdrop of the majestic opera house. The music has a Latino feel to it as the song starts with the Italian word Allgra….

The third song is a peppy and sensuous song Mia, Mia Pole…,

while the fourth song in the album is a crazy number in which lyric writer Viveka has listed all kinds of dishes and snacks that are unique to Chennai like kothu parotta and sundal.

The fifth song is Mambo Mamia… shot in the famous bull ring in Mexico on the lead pair and Mexican dancers accompany them.

Then, there is the item number En Peru Meenakumari, En Ooru Kanyakumari… sung by Malathi and picturised by Susi in a very different way.

There is no other male voice in the album other than Vikram’s. Vikam has sung four songs for the movie Kanthasamy. ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram, Shriya, Susi Ganesan, Kalaipuli S Thanu, A.R. Rahman , KRG, Shankar Ganesh, Hari, Abirami Ramanathan, Y Gee Mahendran, S A Chandrasekar, Bhagiyaraj, Viveha, Mansoor Alikhan, Keerthi Chawla, Tejashree were made the event. Movie News: Mani Ratnam is upset!

Sources close to ace Mani Ratnam revealed that the director is upset with some media reports claiming the director wants to shoot his ongoing big budget bilingual tentatively titled RavanAsokavanam in Sri Lanka.

It was earlier said that Mani Ratnam would shift his shooting location to Sri Lanka for canning some important scenes after completing forthcoming second schedule at Silent Valley, Kerala. He was reportedly working hard to obtain the necessary permission from the governments of India and Sri Lanka to shoot the film there.

It is now said that Mani Ratnam actually never wanted to shoot the film in Sri Lanka because of the atrocities being committed against Tamils; he had never sought any support or help from the Sri Lankan government either. He has decided to shoot the remaining parts of his film in Pollachi (Tamil Nadu) and in Kerala.

As his doctors have advised Mani Ratnam to take rest, his wife Suhasini will assist Mani Ratnam to coordinate with a lot of work behind the scenes. A doctor will also accompany the director for a few days. Rumoured to be based on the grand epic Ramayana, Ravan is produced by Mani Ratnam's sister Sharda under Ratnam's banner Madras Talkies.

News: LTTE chief Prabhakaran killed: Lanka govt

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka’s state television station announced on Monday that Tamil Tiger rebel chief Velupillai Prabhakaran has been killed, and the Prabhakaran LTTE chief Prabhakaran was shot dead while trying to flee government troops, a senior defence official said.

army commander said the last pockets of rebel resistance have been cleared from the north.

Prabhakaran’s death would spell the end of a more than three-decade quest by the rebel leader for a separate state for minority Tamils across northern and eastern Sri Lanka.

Rupavahini television, the state broadcaster, broke into its regular programming Monday afternoon to announce Prabakharan’s death. They gave no details of how he was killed.

The government information department also sent a text message to cell phones across the country announcing Prabhakaran was killed along with his top deputies, who were known as Soosai and Pottu Amman.

Sri Lanka’s army chief, Lt. Gen. Sareth Fonseka, told television his troops routed the last rebels from the northern war zone Monday morning and were working to identify Prabhakaran’s body from among the dead.

"We can announce very responsibly that we have liberated the whole country from terrorism," he told state television.

Prabhakaran was in a small convoy of a van and ambulance along with several close aides which tried to drive out of the battle zone, but was attacked and killed, the senior defence ministry official said.

"He was killed with two others inside the vehicle. There will be a formal announcement later," the official said on condition he not be named.

"When the troops opened fire, the van tried to get away, but it was also hit," said another high-level source from the military. "The vehicle caught fire."

The defence ministry said the rebels’ leadership was decimated, heralding an end to their decades-old battle to carve out an independent ethnic homeland in the north of the island.

Troops also found the bodies of Prabhakaran’s 24-year-old son Charles Anthony, the group’s political wing leader B. Nadesan, and the head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Peace Secretariat, S Pulideevan.

Also reportedly found dead were the LTTE’s police chief Ilango, its eastern leader, S Ramesh, and deputy intelligence chief Kapil Amman.

In a dramatic announcement, the guerrillas acknowledged Sunday that their decades-old battle for an independent ethnic homeland had reached its "bitter end" -- signalling Asia’s longest running civil war was all but over.

The separatist rebels were once one of the world’s most feared guerrilla armies, and ran a de facto mini-state spanning a third of the island before the government began a major offensive two years ago.

"We have decided to silence our guns. Our only regrets are for the lives lost and that we could not hold out for longer," Selvarasa Pathmanathan, the Tigers’ chief of international relations, said in a statement.

But his appeals for peace talks -- rather than a surrender -- were flatly rejected by the government, and the defence ministry said soldiers were being sent in to crush the diehard remnants and recapture "every inch of land."

Sri Lanka’s hawkish president, Mahinda Rajapaksa, will open a new session of parliament on Tuesday with an address that will officially mark the ending of the war.

The conflict has left more than 70,000 dead from pitched battles, suicide attacks, bomb strikes and assassinations. The LTTE emerged in the 1970s, with all-out war breaking out in the early 1980s.

The capital Colombo, which has been frequently hit by Tiger suicide attacks over the past quarter century, saw street celebrations which lasted well into Sunday night.

Authorities have been determined to capture, kill or recover Prabhakaran’s body amid fears his escape may lead to an attempt to rebuild the LTTE and usher in a new cycle of violence.

The Sri Lankan government’s moment of triumph has also come at the cost of thousands of innocent lives lost in indiscriminate shelling, according to the United Nations. The UN’s rights body now wants a war crimes probe.

The International Committee of the Red Cross, the only neutral organisation that has been allowed to work in the war zone, has for its part described "an unimaginable humanitarian catastrophe."

But Sri Lanka has shrugged off the international pressure.

"There was no bloodbath as some people feared," human rights minister Mahinda Samarasinghe told reporters. "Everybody has come out safely and they are being looked after by the government."

We all have read about the various Hollywood celebrities going in and out of Leena Yadav'sTeen Patti but what we are really interested is what the film is all about. But now the entire speculations end here as we at Bollywood Hungama bring you the exclusive preview watch of what Teen Patti is all about. Here's a sneak peek into the film.

Perci Trachtenberg (Ben Kingsley), widely regarded as the world's greatest living mathematician, meets Venkat Subramaniam (Amitabh Bachchan), a reclusive math genius from India, who has cracked a theory that could redefine the principles of probability and randomness. Aware that he is on the precipice of an extraordinary discovery, one that could find applications across various sciences, Venkat is encouraged to test his theory in the real world. But what starts out as an experiment between a charismatic young professor and an eccentric older one soon descends into a game neither of them can control. Convinced that Venkat's discovery has the originality and significance to change the narrative arc of mathematics, Perci understands that Venkat's theory, in essence, questions the idea of what is random and what is fated. A surprising and deeply moving redemption, initiated by Perci, closes this stupendously modern film that is as much about the private equations of honour and chance, as it is about knowledge that can change the world.
