Rupee depreciates to 50.43 against dollar

Mumbai:

The Indian rupee depreciated by nine paise to 50.43 against the US currency in early trade on account of heavy capital outflows by funds and increased month-end dollar demand from importers and refiners.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange market, the local unit, which had snapped its four-day losing streak and gained 11 paise to 50.34 against the greenback, fell again to 50.43 a dollar.

Meanwhile, the benchmark Sensex dropped by 80.57 points or 0.74 per cent due to profit-booking at higher levels on Wednesday.
