Srinagar, May 26: Clearing its stand on the Amarnath Yatra, Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Monday stressed that the annual pilgrimage should be performed on the pattern of Gangotri Yatra in Uttarakhand.
After his release, the Hurriyat (G) chairman visited the house of Manzoor Ahmad Beg, a local resident of Aalochi Bagh who was allegedly killed by SOG recently and expressed sympathy with his family.
Geelani said, “None of us is against the Amarnath Yatra. What we want is that it should be held on the pattern on Gangotri Yatra in Utarakhand for a stipulated brief time”.
He said that Yatris are the guests of Kashmir and they should be provided hospitable atmosphere here.
The Hurriyat (G) chairman while expressing concern over the increase in the immorality acts in Valley said, “Besides, life and property, our culture, social values and dignity are facing a threat under the occupation of New Delhi. The ailing education system and mushroom growth of liquor shops is being encouraged to promote the immorality and degrade the social values,”
Condemning the killing of Manzoor, Geelani said, “Despite tall promises by the government there has been no significant change in the situation of Kashmir. Human rights violations are continuing unabated and innocent civilians are being murdered under a planned conspiracy. The killing of Manzoor Ahmad is a glaring example,” Geelani told a gathering.
Coming down heavily upon NC and PDP, Geelani said that it doesn’t suit them to talk of Kashmir solution. “NC is the solely responsible for giving Kashmir to the New Delhi. NC along with Congress hatched a conspiracy to hand over the Kashmir into the hands of uncertain political situation. While Congress’s role is extremely criminal, Mufti is a political triumph-card in the hands of Congress. Like Abdullah family, Mufti is a puppet in the hands of New Delhi,” Geelani said.
