News: US leader visits our state


 

The US ChargĂ© D’Affaires in India, Mr Peter Burleigh, called on various political leaders apart from prominent persons in the economic and educational fields in the state. He visited the US Consulate in the city for the first time.

During his visit, Mr Burleigh met with Governor, Mr N.D. Tiwari, and the Chief Secretary, Mr P. Ramakanth Reddy, on Tuesday.

Later, he called on the TD chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Speaker Mr K.R. Suresh Reddy, and Praja Rajyam president, Chiranjeevi.During his meeting with the Speaker, Mr Suresh Reddy, Mr Burleigh talked about Parliamentary proceedings and discussions that take place in the state legislature.

He asked Mr Reddy if he would opt for the Speaker’s post again if the Congress came to power. However, Mr Reddy reportedly said he would look for a berth in the Cabinet this time as he had enough experience as a Speaker. Mr Burleigh also reportedly sought the possibility of the TD and PR winning the elections when he met Mr Naidu and Chiranjeevi respectively.
